Hysterese means that there is a dead window that the signal must get through before the logic level toggles. So it may take >= 3.0V to reach a logic one, while you may need < 2.4V to reach a logic zero.
Without hysterese, high-frequency noise of low amplitude can result in huge amounts of logic switches in case the signal is close to the switch point. |
