I too set SCON to 52H to start the UART in the "transmit ready" state. This allows a check for ready prior to character output. It is probably "mox-nix" which is better but checking txready prior to output conforms to the generality of UARTs.


Your example of non-interrupt serial transfer looks 1st rate i rarely run non-interrupt sio but when i do i often use the JBC (RI/TI) switch just to ensure i do not forget to reset the flags.
