#175463 - Don't select career just based on possible income Responding to: ???'s previous message |
The best way to make money developing firmware is probably if you own the products and get the profit from selling the final products.
You can make a bit extra if you are very specialized or if you are extremely good at more than one thing - in which case a company gets interested in paying extra to get two people for the cost of 1.5 people. I definitely recommend to try to aim for an area you like instead of aiming for an area you think will make lots of money. Remember that 5 or 15 years from now, the definition of "hot" has most probably changed a lot. Too bad then if you avoided your favourite area because of money and later finds that if you had been sticking to your ideals for a couple of years you would suddenly be much wanted. |
