#17952 - RE: what is 80c188-1B |
The 80C188 is not a particularly good microprocessor to start learning assembly language.
One advantage, as it's internally identical to an 80186 and has virtually the same instruction set as an 8086 (just a couple of extensions), is that you can use native PC tools to generate code for it. The latest version of Borland has, I think, lost the ability to generate "pure" (ie, non-Windoze) 8086 objects. Microsoft lost it ages ago. I think v4.x was the last Borland able to generate "pure" 8086 objects? We are now way off-topic for 8052.com! For futher support, the AMD site might be worth a look (I think they still do 188-based microcontrollers). |
