I just picked up a few XILINX XCR128's for about $3? each.  They are, IIRC, 5-volt tolerant and therefore don't require level shifting buffers in order to handle the job I have for 'em.  That's just one example, but they can have quite a number of pins, though the ones I ordered have, ISTM, 80 or so.  
 That might provide a starting point for you. These are extremely low-power devices. RE  |
