#18463 - RE: problem with login in forum ie5 |
Use Netscape. :)
Honestly, cookies are about the flakiest (sp?) think on the web, and they are known to function differently in Netscape and IE. One solution is to have the web generate different cookie instructions based on the browser that the user is using, but that's quite a bit of hassle from a maintenance standpoint considering how many browsers I would theoretically have to support. I personally use Netscape when I'm developing code for the website, so the site will have a tendency to work better under Netscape. That being said, I'm planning to make some changes to the website to, among other things, switch the login mechanism from cookie-based to session-based. This will allow logins to work more consistently across platforms. Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
