Dear Mr. Levi Bennett:
You might be better off buying a stepper motor kit rather than building one from scratch. There was an excellent project featured in Nuts & Volts (www.nuts&volts.com) magazine sometime during 1998 that provided everything you needed to get up and running. The article provided a three stepper motor with all hardware and printed circuit board for about $150.00. A few years eariler (1996 I think) there was a 8051 cpu stepper motor project featured which did the same thing. It used RS232 from a IBM pc to control the stepper motors. The stepper motors were controlled using the parallel port of a IBM compatable DOS computer. Once you get your hardware up and running you will need software to control it and there is another excellent company which provides shareware software for this purpose. Their web address is http://www.deskam.com. Regards, Charles Bannister |
