I am planning to use this method to design multiprocessor system in which power and communication will be done over same line.So I can save wiring.
I think since there is load of Smoke detector cross loop then there may be some current flowing through the loop at logic 0 i.e 10Volt. 2nd thing is there is serial communication bet Smoke Detector and Fire control Panel since we can set unique addresses for each Sensor/Hooter.
