8 bit conversion for upto 0xff is for the full span of the ADC according to its data sheet.

I suppose it is 0 to 5 volts which corresponds to 0x00 to 0xff digital output if you follow the schematic given in the data sheet.

However, to reduce the input voltage span to 2 volts you have to span adjust, see the data sheet.

And to raise the 0 adjustment to 0.4 volts to correspond to 0x00 digital out put you have to do the zero adustment according to the data sheet.

All you must do as the first step is read the data sheet very very keenly :)
