#19790 - What's EEPROM data retention time? |
Hi,
The Motorola HC11's internal EEPROM is rated at 10000 writes and 10 years data retention. Question is what's meant by 10 years retention? Does it mean that the cell will lose the data if you don't write to it for 10 years? Or does it mean that if you don't apply power to the chip for ten years, then it will lose the data? Or does it mean that after 10 years, the cell will seize to hold data even if you tries to write to it? Also, will the cell contains a predictable value when it looses the data? ie, $FF or $00?
