#19850 - RE: Backing up from 8051? |
Sorry, I would like to know what is DMCA. Can you tell me the fullname?
All joking aside, Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Basically a dubious law passed by the U.S. Congress which gives absurd and extreme rights to content providers and takes away rights from the end-user. I think Steve is probably referring to a section of the DMCA which makes it illegal to circumvent a copy-protection mechanism. Since the lock bit of an MCU is generally used to prevent the firmware from being copied, any attempt to get around a lock bit would probably be a violation of the DMCA. As the RIAA and MPAA say: "All your rights are belong to us." :) Good luck, Craig Steiner |
