#20759 - RE: Keil's forum, Erik |
If you see a response and cannot remember the question, you have to seek backwards. I hope it will inspire you NOT to do such a thing. Keep the main forum window as is please, pretty please.
I checked out their forum but I'm a little confused about your comments, too. Their main forum screen doesn't look all that different than 8052.com's--it's a list of threads. Then you click on the thread and it opens up a page with all the replies. Is your complaint that all the replies to the message appear on a single page? I've always been undecided as to whether I like that or not--it gets you all the replies in a single hit but, as you say, if each reply is 50 lines then it can get pretty long. But is that any worse than opening each message one at a time? I've seen many forums that use the same technique that Keil is using. I've considered implementing it as an OPTION such that registered users could configure whether they'd like to see threads in the current format (one mesage per page) or the flat format (all replies on a single page). My main complaint about the Keil forum is that it doesn't appear to work in Netscape. I had to crank up IE or Mozilla to get it to work. I suspect they forgot to close a table or something like that... Craig Steiner |
