------------------------------- I need a 8051 with 16 bit DAC or even wider. Does it exist? As far as I know: No. Even if there does exist such beast, I wouldn't touch it with a 3 meter pole (that's 10 ft. in funny talk ;o) ). A high resolution dataconverter just does not mix well with any high speed digital circuit! Even at 10V full-scale, 1 LSB of a 16-bit converter is only 153 µV. At those levels it takes a lot of care and attention to get things right on a PCB, where you have complete control over placement and routing. If the converter resides within the same package as the controller, you have no such control. You do have thousands of transistors switching at MHz speed and capable if inducing tens of millivolts of noise. Have a look round at www.analog.ti.com You'll find plenty of high resolution converters there (up to 20 bits) and a lot of them have a serial interface, making them very easy to work with.
