I have been using a Futaba M202SD08GN VFD for the past few months but am going to replace it with an LCD panel. Even though the VFD is easier to use (it does not require the initialization steps like LCD and comes with a dedicated busy line) it nevertheless is a major power hog at 250ma if running from batteries, compared to the 5ma for LCD.
