Hi
I am planning to make a project to transmit & receive data on a single pair of wire, using RS485. I have few questions, if some one can clarify them for me.

1- Can I use serial port of MCS51 to drive RS485 drivers?

2- How a master can check whether the bus is in-use or not by another master?
