The 16-bit PICs actually have an 8-bit ALU with 16-bit wide instructions. The new dsPICs have a 16-bit ALU with 24-bit wide instructions. These devices are "available" in 18, 28, and 40 pin DIP packages, among others. And they run 30 MIPS at 120 MHz. :-) Regards, Cory Spackman |
