If you don't want the hassle of writing and debugging windows drivers then the ftdi device should be ok.
One note though I've just spent the last couple of days getting a very simple test rig going, FTDI have two reference designs (address and port mapped) they state that the write control of the chip is rising edge triggered. After many hours wondering why I was getting more data back than I expected I finally figured it out, the chip likes the write signal to be left high when inactive. |
