Hello John,
The Cygnal devices allow you to change the port configuration "on the fly". This means that you can set the port to push-pull when you want to write and set it to open-drain when you want to read. Reading from your LCD with the port configured as push-pull will cause problems. Like you say: a large current will flow, which might cause device failure. Also your read operation will fail, because there is no way of knowing what the actual output from your LCD is when you have two outputs "fighting". Best regards, Rob. |
