The clock rate is a maximum of 500KHz, they don't specify a minimum, each pixel is clocked out by me pulsing a clock line on the chip, so it's ideal for a slower processor, like the AT89C52 which I am using.

As for data, I'm toying with something called Optic Flow ( have a search on google there is lots of info on it)

What I need to do is make sure objects are passing past the camera on either side at the same rate, if they aren't then the robot turns to the side which has the slower rate. This is how bees and flies avoid objects (and smash themselves repeatedly into windows).

I want to use this technique to control a autonomous car going around a track. If I lay the track out with black and white stripes on the edges, then it should be able to naviage by vision alone - which will be very fast, much faster than your tradition 'line-follower'


So, I'm eisther going to use a parabolic mirror to make it see a 'wall-eye' view, or just read the sides of the pixel data, rather than the whole lot.


Do you think that altering the clock rate will upset the chip?
