It's been mentioned before that you can use ALE and divide by two to get 1MHz (assuming a 12MHz clock). This has an advantage for ADC's if you start conversion with a movx as you don't get a clock right after a movx so you don't have a bus operation near the clock cycle where your least sig. bit is converting (assuming a SAR ADC).
