I am having similar trouble.
using the TUSB2136 evaluation board
texas Instruments i2c utility and the following program.....

void main(void){P3.5=1;}

compiles fine, downloads fine
should just turn on LED D5 as soon as it boots

I think the trouble is the i2c utility, does anyone know the configuration for this. the utility does not come with any help, but there are several parameters to enter

any help at all would be appreciated,
