#2384 - RE: crystal |
IF YOU USED A SMT CRYSTAL:
========================== Double check the crystal pinout if you used a surface mount crystal. I've seen identical packages from different vendors wherein the crystal pinouts were between different pin pairs. A KIT, WIREWRAP, OR YOUR PCB DESIGN? ==================================== Is this a board you designed or a kit you built? That can simply our responses. IF YOU WIREWRAPPED THE CIRCUIT ============================== I'm probably the only guy left with a wirewrap tool. But if you did a wirewrap design, DO NOT USE WIREWRAP for the crystal. The leads need to be short and I always solder the crystal and caps directly to the pin pads. I even clip the WIREWRAP pins off of those pins to make room (who needs the extra antennas anyway?). -Jay C. Box PS: The first and simplest thing to do is to replace that caps. Make sure you have the correct technology caps, don't use electrolytics, I think ceramic caps are the right selection (some one will correct me if need be). |
