dear friends

i have connected a switch to pin p3.4.
my aim is to generate a high to low transisition on pin p3.4.
i have configared timer0 as a counter by asseing c/t=1.my aim is when ever i give a pulse through the switch on counter pin
i have to count the pulse and display ing them on lcd.
i have writen my code like this

lcd intialization routine
setb tr0
mov a,tl0
mov p1,a
but count pulse is not incrementing eventhougt i am sending my pulse through the switch
kindly suggest if there are any other register has to be set or any thing more
