Does anybody have idea how to compress my text messages

In fact I do not know much about compression, but for text messages I would check the GSM character map for SMS and if it is, say 64 characters, I can use 6 bits for a character.

This way, it is possible to hold 8 characters in 6 bytes.

But probably, Mar's link has better algos.
