Why fight with a chip without a built-in bootloader. The known, working and simple to use bootloaders are those provided in the Philips P89C51Rx2 and P89c66x chips using FlashMagic and the Atmel T89c51Rx2 using their software. There may be other chips with built-in bootloaders these are the ones I know.
