The 8052 isn't well suited to high speed DSP work, which is what real "DSP" chips are for after all, but any numerical algorithm performed on real-time (analogue ??) data could be considered DSP. How about a seisimographic analyser, that only starts recording when it sees a certain frequency in the data received from its seismograph. Don't laugh, I've done it.
