Hi Jeff,
Have you tried looking at what model tank builders use ? I have seen some pretty substantial machines built with that. But beware tank tracks really bugger up carpet and most other surfaces. Its interesting to note that ALL the proposed mars rovers use multiple, independently powered WHEELS !
