#26230 - RE: car equipment design consideration
Very strange,

nobody has given any suggestion about the casing of your design.

Most failures in automotive designs can be reduce by choosing a good EMC shielded case.

Next to the case, you select good EMC shielded connectors for your signals..

Next, add at EACH input filters that removes all unwanted incoming signals.

When I say EACH input, I mean EACH EMC input.

Strange but true, a LED indicator is an input for EMC !

Be sure that your Power supply is well designed.

Seperate SIGNAL GROUND, POWER GROUND en LOGIC GROUND.

Use multilayer boards, make sure they have a GROUNDED SHIELD on BOTH outer layers.

Evenso for VCC.

Don't budget on BEADS, C, L en R.

Watchdog (software or hardware) your system.
Make use of a power guard reset controller.
Overdimension power supply.
Design ANY signal output SHORT proof for any condition.
Design ANY signal input DOUBLE proof on the signal amplitude.

When finishing your design, prepare yourself for redesign!

Use any of these to improve your design.

Bert Regards.
