there is a chip mm5387 which is a clock by itself, with am/pm or 24hr set, alarm+snooze etc. try google search to get the datasheet. incidentally i have the code for the clock but without set or alarm, and 7 seg disp. it hasn't been tested yet(i am still building the programmer!!!) i have used pure software delays(inc and many many nop's) to count unlike the tutorial which uses the timer.
