#26488 - RE: RAM test of 8052 data backup |
What seems to be overlooked in the discussion between Leo and Pranav is the fact that there is no need to back up any data if you perform the memory test at startup. Actually, this is the only proper time to perform these tests, because, as Mahmood already stated: "...you want to make sure that your chip is working properly before you rely on its decisions."
Backing up the contents of the internal RAM in XRAM means that a). You need XRAM and b). You must test the XRAM beforehand. Mahmoods requirement is to test the internal memory. The best way to do this, in my opinion, is to modify the startup.a51, as suggested earlier. Mahmood: that means you will have to convince your boss... ;o) Remember that "experience" is as much about knowing when to use which tool as it is about anyting else. Or does your boss force you to use a hammer to drive a screw? Best regards, Rob. |
