#2664 - RE: serial RAM ? |
Hi,
I don't think you're going to have much luck. Is there any particular reason why the RAM needs to be accessed serially?.. I know having to use a 28-pin SRAM is more hassle than just using a nice little 8-pin device (when it comes to circuit construction anyway). But using a parallel device will give you higher performance, plus if you're using some sort of standard or near-standard 8051 (40/44 pins) then you can simply access the SRAM with MOVX commands instead of having to write time/memory gusseling function-calls to handle serial access. Another idea that might be worth considering is trying to find an 8052 derivative that has some internal SRAM (in adddition to the standard registers) on it. Such devices do exist, although I've never had to use one, so I couldn't give you any model numbers. Matt. |
