hey guys.

i have a system with 5 74hc595 (shift register) controling 40 outputs (LED outputs). i connected the serial data , clock and latch together , plus 5 chip select lines (total of 8 lines) to a 8052. the reset (~reset) is connected to the vcc.

my q is , that correct? causei tryed one on a breadboard (one 74hc595 with the same configuration... (~chip_select connected to the ground...) the problem is , all the outputs are high no matter what i do... (i connected the clock,latch & data to a click switches...).

?
