#27497 - RE: forums official language
Hi
American English predates current English English, so it has precendence.

Witness: Analog v. Analogue
Program v. Programme
color v. Colour.

For some reason, English English adopted a French spelling in the 18th Century that the colonials didn't adopt.

There are other archaisms in American grammar.

Gotten v. Have got.
Faucet v. Tap.
Attorney v. Solicitor
