Try the USB modules sold at www.dontronics.com, based on the controller chip from www.ftdi.com, you can attach a USB interface to your uC system withen 10 minutes. Interface it as Serial or Parallel ports. Also, Windows drivers are available for free. I've tried the USBMOD2 with 8052 standard uC and it worked great.
