i am starting this new thread to identify and understand the issues involved for designing a device to be connected to the public telephone networks in a specific country.


so my question, what are the specific issues to consider when designing a device for the telephone network in a specific country.


i am considering the MH88422 chip from zarlink to use as DAA to terminate the telephone line. chip data sheet link is give below.

1- The company specify that it has country specific variants for this device. does that mean i take one chip which is of my country specific and design it according to sample circuits as specified in their data sheet.

2- If not then to be very specific about the chip, what parameters i should consider to adopt it for my country telephone network.
