#29324 - RE: Crystal Load Capacitance? |
Hi Sam,
If u are selecting 11.0592 MHz crystal then 30 pF capacitor will be right. For your Information: If the crystal frequency is between 3.5 MHz to 24 MHz, then the value of the capacitors will be in the range of 20 pF to 30 pF. If the crystal frequency is between 30 MHz to 40 MHz, then the value of the capacitors will be in the range of 3 pF to 10 pF. But in this case you have to connect a resistor of value around 6.2 K Ohm to 10 k Ohm across the crystal. If u are are interested in using a ceramic resonator instead of Crystal then for the frequency range of 3.5 MHz to 24 MHz, you can connect 47 pF capacitors. In NMOS TECHNOLOGY MICROCONTROLLER, XTAL2 pin should be connected to the ceramic resonator In CMOS TECHNOLOGY MICROCONTROLLER, XTAL1 pin should be connected to the ceramic resonator and XTAL2 should be kept open.
