#29628 - I2C data monitor/Logic Analyzer |
Hello All
I'm thinking of making a circuit which will monitor the traffic on an I2C bus, which links with a serial port on a PC.It's purpose to report in English what is being transfered between devices on the I2C bus I.e. Device 32H transfered 2 bytes to device at 40H the bytes were 02 40.etc.etc. bit 7 at address 21H was set. Hopefully you've got the general idea. Not wishing to re-invent the wheel has anyone else done this or can you suggest possible pitfalls with solutions. As a Serial port to PC will be slower than the I2C Bus.I was going to store the traffic in an 8K static ram, using a sort of round robin type FIFO.So that the output to the PC would catch up during periods of idleness on the I2C bus. This is more of a can we.So haven't decided on variant of 8052 or static ram yet. Thanks in advance for any comments, ideas whatever. Jeremy |
