I once worked for a 200 employee company (50 with PCs) that got a new president (Bob) while I was there. Bob rank very high on my esteem scale. Bob brought in a consultant/friend who as one of his actions formed a small team which on one 3 day weekend backed every PC in the place up and ersed the harddrives. Tuesday morning every error reporting employee was told "just use your last backup". After that backups were maintained faithfully by 98% of the employees.

Re Shirangs supplier:
When you do backups DO NOT KEEP THE BACKUP MEDIA IN THE SAME BUILDING. Before the fast online became available, I brought home a disk every evening containing the files changed that day and monthly we did a total backup which I braought home and the previous months disks were reused.
