It depends how long you want to wait for a frame doesn't it ? I'd look at using some kind of DMA technique or dual-port if you really want to crank data in. There are some image acquisition devices with built in support for CCD and CMOS imagers, as well as USB support AND an 8052 built in too. But I can't remember who from (Micronix -nex ??)
