#31432 - RE: application of steppermotor using 8051
Another source for experimental motors is to rip apart an old 5 1/4 floppy disk drive. The head positioner in the older versions (a.k.a larger drives) was a reasonably sized unit that are relatively easy to drive with an 8051. You do need to buffer the drive pins though and depending upon the particular motor a buffer like DS2003 may be adequate.
