A digital potentiometer is a variable resistive divider that can be controlled over a (usually serial) digital interface. They come in volatile and non-volatile versions. The non-volatile version can store the setting in an EEPROM, hence the term "EEPOT".

Other manufacturers are Dallas and Analog Devices.
