Not that I'm any kind of expert, but I'd think it was pretty much like controlling one stepper motor! I mean the basic routines would be the same, only the port/pin numbers would change for individual motors.

Maybe what would add to the complexity would be the driver control system. If your driver gets a co-ordinate of the final position, instead of individual signals to drive each motor, you will need to calculate the steps required of each motor, and maybe determine the most optimal path to take.
