#33920 - uart software flow control |
Hi, All
I will ask a very simple, maybe stupid question about uart software flow control. This is my first time using software flow control. I am using quad uart TL16C754B. I know how to setup Xon and Xoff threshold, What I am confusing here is about character Xoff(0F) and Xon(0D). On the data sheet, TI has a exaple about software flow control. uart1 sends data bytes to uart2, when uart2 reaches xoff threshold, uart2 will send Xoff to uart1. My problem is here, uart2 will automatically send Xoff to Uart1, it is finished by hardware, I don't need to care about it in my software? right? If not, what is the advantage of software flow control? Thanks Frank |
