#34058 - Atmel or Philips? |
Hi all,
I have studied Philips 8051 uC's (P89C668, Rx) and now discovered Atmel's variants which sounds rather interesting. Is AT89S51 to recommend? Or AT89C55? I feel comfortable with Phillip's extensions and special functions such as the above mentioned IAP and ISP functionalities. Does Atmel's controller differ alot compared to Phillips' in such cases? In the future I will build USB devices(in the future..) so for now it's just for educational purposes. What should I choose - Atmel or Phillips? In either case, I need a simple, easy to build and _cheap_ parallel programmer. It also need to be linux compatible or platform indepedent. Windows is not an option. Any ideas or perhaps layout blueprints? Is there an AN available describing parallel programming? (AN461 concerns IAP and ISP) _Any_ feedback is highly appreciated. cheers, Frans |
