I found it!!! The display part number MDL(S)-20464 is a character mode display controller organized as a 4 line by 20 column display. The manufacturer is Varitronix. Here is a link to the data sheet for the module so you can see the connector pinout.

This display uses the very standard Hitachi HD44780 or equivalent display controller. You can find extensive discussion about this controller here on the forum and there are some code samples in the 8052.com Code Library via the link to the left.

Here is a link to a very nice little application note that gives some ideas on how to hook up a module like this to an 8051 type processor.
