Disk On Chip allows only limited number of erase/write cycles like Flash. yes, it IS flash but the idea is that you do not write in the same space every time. to the best of my knowledge there is two varieties of disk on chip, one has the logic to distribute the write load evenly, the other type require your controller to do so.
