Rob and others: Beware FRAM if you do lots of reading! Every read of a FRAM equals one write as far as its (very extended, compared with EEPROM) life is concerned. We replaced 24C16 with equivalent FRAM at same price (even in the UK!!!). It's much faster at writing too - like 'proper' RAM. Just watch your read cycles...
