I have, for years work anti-static shoes, and to the best of my knowledge not blown ONE chip by static electricity.
Honestly, I do not know whether I would have blown any circuits by not wearing those shoes, can just say that wearing those I have not blown any chips. The real danger is spikes coming in on the cables and from the power supply, not grounded (by anti-static shoes) human hands. Assuming you are in the US, Red Wing Shoes which to the best of my knowledge is a national chain carry a nice selection of very nice anti-static shoes (I buy there). Straps and such does not work, it get forgotten too often and destroy more by raking it off the table that it saves by no discharge. Erik |
