Hi Frans,
on most data sheets you can found always two different values: The maximum value (e.g. 20mA on the 74HCxx series) was the value below this no permanently damage should occur. The operating value (e.g. 4mA on the 74HCxx series) was the only value, below this also correct working was guaranteed. So you should always meet the operating conditions. If it was not particularly specified, that the operation conditions are internal limited, then its always your part, to connect only such loads, that no overload can occur. Peter |
