#35488 - 8051 - Building a serial port |
Hi
I\'m using an 8051 chip which has only 1 serial port. I need 2 serial ports for my system. I have connected port 2 to a 6850 acia chip, but I can\'t seem to tap the address like in a motorola controller. I proposed to connect P1.0 to a latch so that I can send signals to the RS pin of the 6850 chip. The RS pin helps the acia determine if control or data signals are sent. The P1.1 pin is connected to the enable pin of the acia. But this seems like a very forced (clumsy) way. Is there any other way I can do this? |
